Overview
Makaton is a multi modal communication programme used with children and adults who have a broad range of communication needs often associated with learning difficulties.
The Makaton Foundation Workshop is designed for professionals or indeed anyone who uses Makaton in their work or wants to gain a more in-depth training.
Course Objectives
The Makaton Foundation workshop provides a detailed introduction to the Makaton Signs and Symbols from stages 1-4 and Additional Vocabulary.
The lecture sessions cover current research into sign use, symbols design themes, the use and purpose of Makaton, and an overview of alternative systems of communication.
At the end of the Makaton Foundation workshop, participants should be able to use the early stages of the Makaton vocabulary with children, students and service users.
