The Modern Skills Diploma programme is aimed at employed individuals within a management role or with managerial responsibilities. There is currently no framework for the Health & Social Care, Childcare and Advice & Guidance qualifications. Learners are therefore encouraged to complete Key Skills and a Technical Certificate as part of the programme.
The qualification is about the management and delivery of physical, emotional or enabling care to clients/service users. The candidate will be managing and delivering care in support of others, and will be accountable in the area of practice. The qualification covers managerial duties in addition to the assessment of individual care needs, and the planning and review of care programmes. At this level the worker has management or supervisory responsibility for other staff or a high level of independence in developing individual responses to the service users’ needs.
Candidates will be working without direct supervision or on their own, such as in a clients/service users own home. Candidates will have autonomy, and will be required to make decisions within boundaries and limits agreed with their team.
