Based in the heart of South Wales, OP Chocolate Ltd has been baking quality wafers for over 75 years. Its history can be traced back to Oscar Peschek; an Austrian baker and confectioner who began producing wafers in the late 1930’s.
Network Training Services (NTS), part of the Educ8 Group, works with OP Chocolate to hold various different sign ups, the company currently has 20+ staff on the apprentice programme.
Deborah Shaughnessy at OP Chocolates said: “Since the beginning of the relationship, NTS has been very supportive and accommodating to the business needs.
“Lee Thomas, our regular assessor, has proven to be very successful among the group. Encouraging people to stick with it and making adjustments to appointments on short notice when needed.
“The communication chain is good and Lee also supported those learners with limited PC access by providing paper copies to them in order to facilitate learning outside of the monthly meetings.”
NTS supports OP Chocolate by adjusting the delivery and requirements of our programmes to suit the company’s needs.
Processing staff have additional units from the engineering programme as part of their learning, to help them gain a greater understanding of the workings of the machinery.
Learners were also supported through a presentation to management of individual projects undertaken, whilst completing the essential skills part of the role.
Deborah added: “Learners have lots of support from their assessor and also from the training team . The company allocates time to the learners for their visits and additional time for support if required.”
