The apprenticeship consists of the following courses:

Health & Social Care Level 2

This qualification is designed for care workers who support and assist individuals with their physical or emotional care, daily living needs or maintaining their independence, usually working under supervision. The qualification is particularly relevant for Home Care Assistants, Community Support Assistants, Healthcare Assistants, Residential or Day Service Assistants.

Health & Social Care Level 3

Designed to be applicable to individuals who work in health or social care settings, in the public, private or voluntary sectors. It is designed for full or part time workers (although a minimum of 16hrs a week is recommended) permanent or temporary contract as well as day or night workers. This qualification is relevant to those supporting adults of any age, in any setting. Due to specific core unit requirements domiciliary workers, home carers/home help workers may not be suitable at this level of qualification

The award will be particularly relevant to roles (including senior roles) such as:

Children´s Care, Learning & Development Level 3

Designed for those working with Children from 0-16 years (and their families) in settings or services whose main purpose is children’s care learning and development. It is designed for all workers, whether full or part time, paid or voluntary, permanent or temporary in day or night posts in fixed locations or peripatetic who may work in supervisory roles. (Funding is available for employed individuals working 16 or more hours per week)

Children´s Care, Learning & Development Level 2

This award is aimed at people who work with children and young people aged 0 to 16. The qualification reflects the diverse group of people who do not work in a single age range, but move between settings catering for different needs. The units are relevant to people working in day care, crèches, preschools and schools, hospitals, primary care and community based services such as SureStart programmes. It is also relevant to people working as childminders.

It is suitable for all workers, whether full or part time, paid or voluntary, permanent or temporary in day or night posts in fixed locations or peripatetic who may work in support roles. (funding is available for employed individuals working 16 or more hours per week)

OCR Advice & Guidance Level 3

The OCR Level 3 NVQ in Customer Serviceis aimed at candidates who will be delivering and managing service and will be accountable in the area of practice. Candidates will be working without direct supervisions or on their own, such as in a commercial customer service environment.
 
It is suitable for candidates who:
  • can influence what happens at work.
  • uses the organisation´s rules and systems flexibly to deliver good service.
  • question the way things are done and suggest improvements.
  • have good communication skills and a wide knowledge of what to do, who to see and where to go to get things done for the customer.
  • are aware of the commercial or other pressures facing the organisation/business.

OCR Advice & Guidance Level 4

The qualification is primarily aimed at experienced practitioners who work directly with clients, disseminating information, advice, guidance and formal advocacy. Candidates might also have some managerial or training responsibilities. They could also be creators of information, advice and guidance, either disseminating information themselves as practitioners or through their organisation in the form of publications. Candidates at this level are expected to have a more dynamic relationship with other organisations.
 
It is suitable for candidates:
  • who have managerial or training responsibilities 
  • who are creators of information, advice and guidance within the service/practice
  • who are dynamic in their dealings with organisations.
It supports the recognised need that individuals and employers must be responsible for gaining the skills needed to meet ever changing objectives which will in turn lead to improvements in efficiency and effectiveness throughout the organisation and with clients.
A specialist endorsement is available to candidates taking this qualification if they achieve all four of the optional units from the Careers Education and Guidance specialist pathway.
