21 Year old Shaun Evans has recently completed Educ8’s Steps to Employment – Health and Social Care Programme in the hope of fulfilling his career ambitions. Shaun was only 16 when his mother fell ill and after caring full time for her for over 5 years, he decided that it was the career path he wanted to take.
After training with Educ8 for 4 weeks Shaun developed his skills in a number of areas including: Effective Communication, Emergency First Aid and Principles of Care. Now on placement in Cwm Cynon Hospital, Shaun is working as an Auxiliary Nurse and has been offered a position to work in Nurse Banking with prospects of securing full time employment.
Shaun said ‘I have had good support from all the tutors at Educ8, they explain everything very well and have taught me so much. This has been a huge step in the right direction for me and I am now working towards my Level 2 QCF Diploma’.
Shaun is extremely grateful for the training and work opportunities that Educ8 have helped him with, he continued to say ‘Educ8 has helped me learn how to transfer the skills I used at home to the workplace, it has given me the confidence boost I needed’.
