Responsibilities
  • Register with Social Care Wales and act in accordance with standards
  • Have an appropriate qualification for your role (QCF Level 2 or above) or be willing to work towards this
  • Assist in the day-to-day running of the home
  • Carry responsibility for the service, ensuring that high standards of care & support are maintained
  • Supervise the work of support workers & relief staff
  • Discuss issues arising with the Team Leader & Domiciliary Manager
  • Work within a flexible rota system inclusive of evening & weekend work. To sleep-in when arranged at a predetermined payment
  • Ensure the safety of the service users at all times
  • Notify the manager of any new criminal convictions you may have committed, including motoring offences
  • Lead & mentor new staff
  • Monitor staff performance
  • Hold formal meeting with staff
  • Oversee daily delegation of staff
  • Be on call and standby by arrangement
  • Alert the Team Leader of any performance concerns
  • Oversee shift rotas
  • Monitor staff sickness
  • Management of service users
  • Contribute to overall cleaning of service users home
  • Organise & administer medication
  • Accurately maintain records
  • Be active within your own professional development
Training Provided

Full training to be provided by the Employer.

The successful candidate will also be required to work towards QCF 3 or 5 depending on level of experience.

  • Commitment to personal development and willingness to undertake identified required training
  • Have personal experience of caring for people e.g. raising a family, caring for elderly relative – voluntary or paid
  • Knowledge of statutory agencies, voluntary sector, disability rights, awareness of spectrum of disabilities
  • Experience with supervisions, appraisals, chairing meetings, mentor responsibilities
