  • Deal with simple and routine enquiries from internal & external customers in a professional manner, following established procedures, referring complex enquiries to relevant staff members, ensuring all relevant facts and information needed is recorded and passed on
  • Undertake a variety of routine human resource administrative, facilities and health & safety duties to support the team & department
  • Update administrative systems with basic information
  • Take an active role in the team supporting team objectives and other team members
  • To assist the facilities team with the security of the premises, with regard to locking and unlocking, checking security alarm systems & carrying out security checks as necessary
  • Heating responsibilities include the operation & routine checks of the heating control panel/systems
  • Maintenance duties include general handy person repairs to furniture and fabric, reporting when more major repairs are required, directing workmen & contractors
  • To provide support for the organisation and set up of events i.e. interview. Escorting visitors & contractors around the School
  • Ensure the regular filing & retrieval of correspondence & records
  • Assisting with room moves & furniture & equipment removals
  • Undertake photocopying duties
  • Updating of records using databases, spreadsheets & specialised software
  • To take notes as meetings as & when required
  • Ensure that an understanding of the importance of confidentiality is applied when undertaking all duties
  • Abide by University policies on Health & Safety & Equality & Diversity
  • Ensure standard guidelines and procedures are adhered to
  • To perform work-related tasks to be assessed by the apprenticeship training provider
  • Perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role
Training Provided

The candidate will complete a training programme as set out by the School of Psychology in conjunction with training provider as part of an apprenticeship scheme with a view to obtaining skills and expertise in general administration with particular emphasis in the areas of facilities, human resources and Health & Safety within higher education.

Desirable Personal Qualities
  • A minimun of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent at grade A* to C including Maths and English
  • Experience of using common office IT packages (e.g MS Office – Words, Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of people, both in writing and verbally
  • Ability to clearly record information to pass on to others
  • Ability to work as an effective team member
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately, and be able to meet deadline
  • Ability to solve common problems using established procedures and practices
  • A willingness to undertake activities that require manual handling, repairs and working within a workshop environment
  • A willingness to undertake further training and development
  • Basic knowledge of the Welsh Language
