At Educ8 Group, we love to celebrate not just the milestones our learners achieve in their qualifications, but the real-world impact they make along the way, and this story is a shining example of that.
One of our Customer Service Level 2 learners, Alesha, recently went above and beyond in her studies by turning her course unit into an opportunity for connection, education, and celebration. Inspired to help her colleagues understand Eid and Islamic culture more deeply, Alesha took the initiative to plan and deliver a vibrant celebration event at her workplace, Monmouthshire Building Society.
The event brought together colleagues and community members to experience the spirit of Eid through food, storytelling, and cultural traditions. Alesha organised a guest speaker, henna art, and even curated a selection of children’s books sharing stories from Islam, sourced from a charity that supports Muslim communities. It was an inclusive, educational and joyful celebration that truly reflected the heart of Eid.
Alesha, Community Academy Associate at Monmouthshire Building Society, said:
“During Ramadan, my colleagues were incredibly curious and excited to learn more about Eid and the meaning behind it from my HUB article. I saw that curiosity as a beautiful opportunity to not only educate, but to celebrate in a way that brings people together. That’s why I created this Eid event: to open our doors to the community, share knowledge through guest speakers and fun activities, and foster understanding in an inclusive, joyful way. Leading this from start to finish was a proud moment, this felt like making history. It was the first time I’d ever seen a building society celebrate Eid like this, and I wanted to make sure it was a day that welcomed everyone in.”
Behind this inspiring event was not only Alesha’s passion and dedication but the incredible support she received from Monmouthshire Building Society. Their encouragement was a powerful reminder of the difference an inclusive and supportive employer can make in a learner’s journey.
Jessica Webb, Alesha’s Educ8 Group Trainer Coach, who attended the event, said:
‘What a fantastic effort by all involved. It was a lovely opportunity for a young Muslim woman to spread positive information about her culture and religion. Alesha’s passion and professionalism shone through, and it was an absolute pleasure to see how she brought her learning to life and created such a meaningful experience for others.’
Rebecca Huws, Senior Talent and Learning Manager, for Monmouthshire Building Society, said:
‘We’re incredibly proud of the successful Eid event organised by one of our colleagues Alesha. It’s a great example of how we empower our colleagues to share their culture and traditions. The event was such a success, filled with delicious food, a fantastic guest speaker, beautiful henna tattoos, and great conversations throughout the event.
We’re so proud of Alesha and everyone who supported, for all the hard work they put into organising and hosting such a fantastic family event. Celebrating moments like these reflects our commitment to inclusion and the value of learning from others and their lived experiences.’
Ann Nicholas, Customer Account Director at Educ8 Group, also praised both Alesha and Monmouthshire Building Society for what this moment represents:
‘We want to thank Alesha for such a heartwarming example of learner initiative and employer support. It’s genuinely inspiring to see how she has brought her learning to life in such a meaningful way. Huge well done to her, and to Monmouthshire Building Society for championing inclusivity and providing a platform for such an important celebration.’
At Educ8 Group, we know that learning is about so much more than passing units. It’s about shaping people, workplaces and communities. This beautiful collaboration between Alesha and Monmouthshire Building Society shows exactly what’s possible when learners are empowered, and employers champion inclusivity.
