Growing confidence in sustainable manufacturing: Giulia’s Customer Service Level 3 apprenticeship journey

Giulia Angelucci is a Customer Service Advisor at Transcend Packaging, a sustainable packaging company based in Ystrad Mynach. As she works through her Educ8 Training Customer Service Level 3 Apprenticeship with us, Giulia is gaining the abilities, confidence, and knowledge required to succeed in a managerial position in a growing, environmentally conscious company.

Transcend Packaging is known for producing sustainable packaging solutions, supporting the shift away from single-use plastics and helping businesses reduce their environmental impact. For Giulia, working in a company with strong sustainability values makes her role even more meaningful.

From office administrator to customer service lead

Giulia has been with Transcend Packaging for five years. She initially joined the company as an office administrator before moving into the customer service team to support her manager.

After gaining several years of experience, Giulia stepped into a more senior role following the unexpected loss of her manager. Taking on greater responsibility meant quickly adapting to leadership duties and decision-making.

Although her background was originally in education, having studied Childhood Studies at university and worked in nursery settings, Giulia embraced the opportunity to build a career in customer service within the sustainable manufacturing sector.

Why Giulia chose the Customer Service Level 3 apprenticeship

As her responsibilities grew, Giulia recognised that she wanted structured learning to support her development.

‘I started because  I needed something to help me with the current role that I’m doing now. I thought that would be really beneficial.’

The apprenticeship was recommended by Transcend Packaging’s HR team, and Giulia saw it as the perfect opportunity to build both confidence and practical skills.

For Giulia, obtaining the Customer Service Level 3 qualification means more than simply getting a credential; it means strengthening her leadership and communication skills for her team.

Learning that applies to real work

One of the key benefits of Giulia’s apprenticeship is the ability to apply learning directly to her everyday role. She is currently working through 11 units, including modules focused on managing customer service challenges and resolving problems effectively.

‘I think just learning as I go on with the units and everything, it’s just giving me more confidence in my role and being able to use that in my practice and everyday life.’

Giulia explains that even small daily tasks, like writing customer emails, now feel more  purposeful. This real-time application of skills is one of the biggest advantages of apprenticeships: learning while working.

Giulia speaks highly of the support she receives from her Educ8 trainer coach, Anna Dix.

‘She’s honestly lovely. Any questions I’ve got, I know I can always ask her and she always does her best she can to help.’

The flexibility of the programme has also made balancing work and study manageable. Giulia also took on the additional challenge of retaking her maths qualification as part of the Level 3 requirements, something she initially felt nervous about.

‘They’ve been quite flexible and my tutor said work at your own pace, so, it’s been overall a positive experience for me.”

For Giulia, the biggest impact of the Customer Service Level 3 Apprenticeship has been confidence.

‘It’s really helped me and improved my confidence.’

Stepping into management can feel daunting, especially when transitioning from a different career background. Giulia’s journey shows how apprenticeships provide structured development that supports real progression — even when roles evolve unexpectedly.

Building skills within a sustainable business

Working for Transcend Packaging, a company committed to sustainable packaging solutions, adds another layer of purpose to Giulia’s development. Strong customer service plays a crucial role in supporting businesses transitioning to more environmentally friendly packaging options.

By strengthening her communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, Giulia is helping ensure customers receive the highest level of support in a fast-moving, sustainability-driven sector.

Lindsay Whittle MS, a Plaid Cymru Senedd constituency member, and Educ8 Training staff recently visited the Transend Packaging site. This was an opportunity to see the facilities, speak with co-founder Channing Nuss, who provided an in-depth explanation of the business and its growth, and talk with Giulia about her development, emphasising the strong employer-training provider partnership.

The visit provided a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate the transformative effects of apprenticeships on businesses.

Supporting growth through apprenticeships

Giulia’s journey highlights how  customer service apprenticeships can strengthen leadership skills, build confidence, and support progression within sustainable businesses like Transcend Packaging. Her experience demonstrates that apprenticeships are not only for early careers, but they are also powerful development tools for anyone stepping into new responsibilities or looking to grow professionally.

At Educ8 Training, we are proud to support learners like Giulia, helping individuals grow within their roles while contributing to forward-thinking organisations across Wales.
