West Monmouth High School is continuing to see positive results through its partnership with Educ8 Training, with students thriving on the Elev8 Hair & Beauty programme delivered by Educ8 tutors.
Educ8 Training has worked alongside the school for the past three academic years, helping learners gain practical skills and recognised qualifications while creating a learning environment that builds confidence and engagement.
Deputy Head Teacher Liane McNeil has seen first-hand the impact the course has had on students.
“We currently have six learners in Year 10 working towards the Certificate in Hair and Beauty and six learners in Year 11 studying towards the Diploma in Hair and Beauty,” Liane explained.
“The students seem to really enjoy and connect with the course and we’ve seen a marked difference in engagement, behaviour and confidence levels since they first started.”
She added, “This has had a positive impact on some pupils’ behaviour who were not engaged in lessons beforehand, but it’s been brilliant. The change we’ve seen has been fantastic and it’s had a really positive impact on the learners.”

One student explained, “It’s not like going to normal lessons, I enjoy coming to hair and beauty and chatting to the teachers as I feel more grown up.”
And another said, “I really enjoy coming to school on a Wednesday, as I want to be a hairdresser when I am older and love learning how to become a hairdresser.”
The programme continues to generate excitement across the school, with strong interest already building from younger pupils ahead of the next intake.
“We have lots of Year 9 pupils already interested in joining the course this coming September, which is really encouraging and shows the positive reputation the programme has developed within the school,” Liane said.
The delivery team has also played a key role in creating a positive experience for learners.
“Jenna Evans and Victoria Trewartha are great with the learners and have built really strong relationships with them. They make the sessions engaging and create an environment where students want to come in and learn,” Liane explained.
The success of the programme at West Monmouth School has also attracted attention from elsewhere, with other schools visiting to see the learning environment for themselves.

“We’ve had a few other local schools come in to see the classroom set-up and how it works, and they’ve been really impressed with what they’ve seen.”
Through its continued partnership with West Monmouth School, Educ8 Training is helping learners discover new interests, develop valuable skills and achieve qualifications that can support future career pathways in the hair and beauty industry.
