Target Group celebrate apprentice success

The first group of apprentices have graduated from our Target Group Customer Service Apprenticeship Scheme.

MP Jayne Bryant visited theTarget offices based in Newport to meet the graduates and learn more about the scheme. Roger Newman, Target Group CEO and Grant Santos, Educ8 CEO also joined into celebrate their success.

The partnership between Target and Educ8 was set up to attract and retain talent into the business while supporting people into work. The goal is to grow the Apprentice Scheme annually, introducing different job roles and functions.

 

“We’re ambitious for our apprenticeship scheme”

Roger Newman, Target Group CEO said, “We’re ambitious for our apprenticeship scheme and anticipate future intakes of up to 30 recruits at a time. I look forward to seeing the scheme continue to go from strength to strength”.

 

“I joined to better myself and gain knowledge”

Daniel Soper, one of the learners who took part said, “I joined the apprenticeship programme to better myself and gain knowledge of the financial world. The training has been brilliant. I’ve had a few jobs before this, which include a sports coach and teaching assistant. I’m hoping this job can top them all.”

 

“I’ve enjoyed being a stay-at-home mum and am now looking forward to progressing my career”

Billie Charles enjoys working in customer service. She said, “For the last 11 years I’ve enjoyed being a stay-at-home mum to my three beautiful children and wife to my amazing husband. I joined to further develop my education and have the opportunity to work in a role I’d enjoy. I like helping customers and working on my NVQ. I’m looking forward to enhancing my skills and progressing my career in Target.”

 

“I want to further my education whilst gaining experience”

At 16, Jack Stacey is the youngest person in the business.He said, ”I joined Target so I can further my education whilst gaining experience. It’s been great to meet so many new people and learn about what we do and where we plan to be. I’m looking forward to my journey with the company.”

 

“The training has helped me build my customer service skills”

Paige Nurden joined the programme for a change of career.She said, “The training has helped me build on my customer service skills I’dg ained from previous roles. Having a good team bond makes the job just that little bit better.”

 

“The training for the apprenticeship has been great.”

Laura Harris spoke of how the group worked together. She said, “The training for the apprenticeship has been great. We’ve taken part in a lot of group activities enabling us to learn through helping each other. It’s been great to meet a few members of the team and learn from them.”
